Shantel Marekera is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar in Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University pursuing a double major in Justice Studies and Global Studies with a certificate in Human Rights. She is also a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society who has been on the Dean's List of outstanding scholars for five consecutive semesters. Shantel is passionate about social justice and emancipation of minority groups. She is currently a research assistant working with Professor Milli Lake to study issues of gender violence in Africa. Shantel served in the office of the president in the Undergraduate Student Government as the director of diversity and inclusion. As an aspiring lawyer, she is currently interning in the Arizona Senate Judiciary Committee.
