Knowing that I value economic and financial independence and that I have knowledge and skills in financial and economic development, I will use my passion to help others create and sustain initiatives in my local community in Kenya. These initiatives will empower the poor to become self-reliant in meeting their daily basic needs.

Teresia John is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar at Arizona State University from Kenya. She is a senior pursuing a double major in Finance and Economics. She plans to pursue a graduate degree in Financial Economics and later begin a career in the financial industry. She is also passionate about impacting the economic welfare of her local community. Upon completion of her studies, she plans to begin economic empowerment initiatives to improve the economically challenged areas of her home community.
