As a Mastercard Foundation Scholar, I view myself as a fellow talented change maker, determined to make a better world in the Sub-Saharan Africa

 

 

Ephrance Peninah Kalungi is a Biomedical Informatics undergraduate student at Arizona State University (ASU). Since she joined ASU in 2015, Ephrance has been on the ASU dean's honor list. Ephrance has also received two scholarship awards from The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program in:- 2013 and 2015. Driven by passion for the healthcare sector, Ephrance has volunteered at Tempe St Luke’s hospital since 2016. She also interned with Arizona Department of Health Services in 2016. Here, she worked with the Childhood Lead Poison Prevention Program, aiming at eradication of blood led in children. Besides that, from, 2015-2016, Ephrance researched about Male Mutation Bias, that more mutations are inherited from males than females. This equipped her with skills in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. Through her mentorship Program, StandOut, Ephrance trains young people to be innovators and job creators. She also mentored kindergarteners at Children’s First Academy-Tempe in 2016. She is currently a Community Manager and an ambassador for Baobab, a learning and networking platform for Mastercard Foundation Scholars.
