8Being a Mastercard Foundations Scholar serves as a stepping stone and a platform to realizing the world I envision.
Lois Gertrude L. Lawson, a Ghanaian Mastercard Foundation Scholar at Thunderbird School of Global Management, believes that anything one puts their mind to can be achieved with commitment, hard work and perseverance. Her goal is to help individuals gain financial freedom by embracing their differences and building on their knowledge, skills and abilities through education. She believes if we can all see the beauty in our differences, the world would be free from wars and discrimination, and become a better place. Lois has held a number of leadership positions from her high school days, and a few more during her time in KNUST. She interned with the Multimedia Group Limited, where she picked up skills relevant to her academic and social life. She networked and learnt about laws and policies surrounding talent management and compensation. She served as the Deputy Welfare Ministry Head for ICGC-KNUST. Her duties included catering for the health, financial and general well-being of congregants. With this position, she improved on her leadership skills and also helped her team build on similar skills. During her leisure, Lois enjoys watching movies, DIY videos and sketching. Lois easily blends in and adapts to situations, generally making her a good team player. Her personal goal is to be the best version of herself and one day be a motivational speaker, counselor and also work with a top multinational company.
