I envision a world where opportunities are granted to people regardless of their social standing and background.

Kudakwashe Faith Nhanga is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar studying Mechanical Engineering at Ashesi University in Ghana and Arizona State University through the International Accelerated Degree Program (IADP). The notion of an engineer as a problem solver is one that fascinates and challenges her to garner the appropriate skills and knowledge to be able to one day actively contribute to the development of her community. At ASU, she will concentrate on the renewable energy aspect of Mechanical engineering, and how sustainable technologies can be utilized in bettering the lives of rural communities in Africa. In her spare time, she enjoys reading both fictional and academic books. She also enjoys writing fictional works as well. While at Ashesi, she volunteered at the Ashesi Writing Centre, where she assisted her fellow students with their writing. Similarly, she also assisted as a Mathematics Centre tutor. She has a keen interest in global affairs, and in 2018, she was selected as a Melton Fellow under the Melton Foundation. This is a global foundation that is centered on assisting young people to tackle the local problems in a global context. Similarly, she is also a USAP alumni, which is an organization that connects promising students in Zimbabwe and other Southern African countries to universities around the world. Before attending Ashesi, she worked as an intern at Education-USA. More recently, she interned with Econet Wireless Zimbabwe at their Distributed Power Africa branch that deals with construction of network boasters, as well as the design, construction and connection of solar grids.
