Being a Mastercard Foundation Scholar means having the vision, leadership and foresight to change lives into an upward spiral.

Christopher Yakubu is a self-motivated and passionate change agent driven by his ambitions to create a new world where business and entrepreneurship serve a major purpose. He is passionate about local empowerment and thus propelled by positive energy to pursue its realization. Christopher believes entrepreneurship has a great prospect to transform lives into an upward spiral as vast business opportunities available at the local level untapped. He has for the past few years, engaged with PARED (partners in Rural Empowerment and Development), a non-Governmental Organization, to provide extensive practical training & soft skills development to the local people which empowered them to set up start-ups as a dependable source of livelihood today. In 2017, he partnered with the “Rural Enterprise Project” department at the district leading to the extension of the VSLA (Village Savings and Loans Association) Project to some communities to build and enhance their social and economic capacities as an attempt to combat poverty through collective action. He aspires to create a society that facilitates the skills and capacities of people and turning it into a greater social benefit. Going forward, Christopher believes changing the world starts at the local level and has planned initiatives of establishing entrepreneurial ventures and training centers together with the right partners that provide grounds for local empowerment.
