Being a changemaker means being either an initiator or contributor to disruptive ideas and actions that can propel positive growth within a society.

 

 

Major Takudzwa Kadonzvo is an Engiprenuer studying as an Electrical and Electronics Engineering student at Ashesi University and Arizona State University. He has a strong background in pure and applied sciences. He is passionate about using his understanding of mathematics and pure sciences to engineer solutions to real-life problems, whilst creating value from the solutions. He sees himself as a future science leader and a key player in the development of Africa’s infrastructure. African Leadership and Global Citizenship are at his heart. He subscribes to the ideas of ethical and servant leadership. He is also interested in global economics and politics. He is an active participant in leadership programs in his community. He is a junior fellow under the mentorship of the Melton Foundation; a network of global problem solvers collaborating in an effort to make the world a better place. He is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar as well as a United States Student Achiever Program (USSAP) Fellow. Opportunities like these have shaped Major into the philanthropist he is. He is dedicated to giving back to his society and beyond. His work on the conservation of the environment and his advocacy for better opportunities for the marginalized are some of the things that illustrate his dedication to making his society a better place. He has experience as a junior co-consultant in the Competitive Intelligence Team at Progressive Insurance Corporation, in Ohio USA. He has also done research work, as a junior Data Analyst, through the Applied Mathematics Research Experience at the College of Wooster. He voluntarily worked as a student tutor at Ashesi, helping his peers to understand and appreciate ideas and concepts in the areas of Mathematics and Applied Science. Major has diverse interests and hobbies that he partakes in. He greatly enjoys travelling and has been fortunate enough to have opportunities to explore some parts of the world other than his country of origin. He enjoys cooking and eating, particularly African cuisine. He loves socializing with people, as he firmly believes that ‘Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu,’ an African philosophy which represents an openness that people could have to one another. He is an avid fan of music and dance. Major wants to be amongst the world’s best minds in the area of sustainable energy generation and eventually develop into a global opinion leader on education, scientific, engineering and leadership matters.
